Situated in a remote, peaceful location at the bottom of Mount Wilhelm, Betty’s Lodge is tucked nicely away behind the natural surroundings and greenery. With beautiful views and the sound of the river running and birds singing in the morning, we offer a truly unique place for you to visit, which is also incredibly eco-friendly.
The lodge itself is quite basic but has all that is required for a comfortable stay before and after tackling the mountain. There is electricity provided by generator from 6-10pm and 6-8am, each day. There are 4 double rooms which can sleep between 3 and 4 persons and two dormitory style bunk rooms perfect for the larger groups or backpackers. There is hot water to shower which is always needed after the drive up or after a wet hike back off the mountain. Betty provides meals for her guests and her pond to plate policy guarantees that your trout is as fresh it can be. All produce is sourced from her own gardens or from the local farmers surrounding Betty’s Place. For those who would prefer catering for themselves, the facilities are available at a small cost and food items can be purchased locally.
Though our accommodation may be simplistic, you can rest assured knowing that you are provided with everything you need while you stay at our lodge. We also have a wood fire in the common area so that you’re able to unwind with other guests on an evening. Betty herself is always there to make your stay as comfortable as possible, cater for your every need and give you an insight look at the challenges faced by both the small business' and local people of the area.
Betty and her team are currently building self-contained cabins which are perfect for two or three guests. Providing double bungalows gives people the option to have slightly more privacy during their stay at Betty’s Place.
